The SustainCommWorld Exhibit Hall will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Like all of our attendees, vendors and sponsors, SustainCommWorld has been working on our own sustainability objectives. We set out this year to create an experience that considers everything we have under our control and try to be as sustainable as possible. We can say this with certitude that your attendance at SustainCommWorld will have the lowest carbon footprint of any event you’re likely to attend in 2008.
Description of Show Floor Displays
To minimize our carbon footprint, all exhibits are created locally for SustainCommWorld thus avoiding cross-country shipping of displays. Bamboo will be used on display walls – 100% recyclable and from 100% renewable resources. Each structure has been created from reusable, recyclable materials provided by a local vendor. Non-carbon filament lighting will be inside each structure. All signs are printed on recycled materials without lamination or adhesives. Badges utilized Smartcard technology, printed on recyclable materials. The badge lanyards are made from cornstarch and even the badge clip is made of oxo-biodegradable PP or PE blends. We will attempt to use “green materials” for all items that can be recycled, even drinking cups.
And, SustainCommWorld will track the travel methods and miles travelled by attendees. At the conclusion of the event, carbon offsets will be purchased to neutralize all travel to and from the event.
Each year we intend to improve upon these plans and will note all on our website.
